Father's Day Fun!

Big Daddy had to go back to the station yesterday, so we decided to go visit him for Father's Day!

My brother, sis-in-law, and nephews went with me and Landry for our little road trip as well!  We stopped and got a cake for Chris for father's day and grabbed lunch and showed up at the firehouse!

After lunch we looked all around.
The boys had to check out where he slept.
Okay, so the fire poles....
I always ask Chris if he using the poles?  He almost always tells me no, he uses the stairs.  In which I reply that that is ridiculous and he should just slide down the pole.
Well, the boys are obsessed with the firepoles.  All they talked about was getting to slide down them.  We
had all told them that they could.  WRONG.

This is the fire pole in the kitchen/dining room.  Now, I do give credit because it has a gate and is enclosed in kind of a meshed metal.  However, it's about a mile to the floor.  The cute little hatch opens up when a person's weight is on the pole, so Chris would pull on the pole so we could see how it opened up.  We (the adults) quickly agreed that the kids were absolutely NOT going down that pole.  The station is so tall it's almost the equivalent of 3 stories.  Yeah, not gonna happen.
So the boys pouted and whined.  I asked them "I thought you wanted to come down here to visit your uncle and wish him a happy father's day?"  Do you know their reply?  "No, TT, we wanted to slide down the fire poles."  Well, okay.  At least they're honest.

This is the fire pole in the bedroom.  Notice that it has no safety netting or ANYTHING around it?  Eesh!
Thankfully Big Daddy was a sport and slid down the pole to show the boys.  I think I got the biggest kick out of it though!
That's why I'm posting this youTube video, I saw this a while back and ever since then every time I think of that fire pole, I imagine Big Daddy doing this!

Holy cow, I seriously think that's hilarious...

Then the boys had to all work out.
This was taken about 2 1/2 seconds before Chris sounded the sirens and my child jumped 10 feet in the air.  I really don't think I've ever laughed that hard!

He tried to put the seat belt on by himself!
We have such precious boys in the family!
Our little family.  And yes, I'm a whale.
Landry was also really interested in the pole but couldn't quite figure out what to do with it!
Keevan, being the little monkey that he is, climbed up the pole a good ways!
Then came back down!
A few of Landry and Chris.
I love this one, I just wish he wasn't sticking his arm out!
We got home mid afternoon-ish and headed to mom and dad's for some Father's Day celebrations with my dad.  We got to swim and they cooked out, so we had lots of great food!  I never did get a picture of Grampy with the boys, but I did get a picture of Landry enjoying his cupcake!!
I have a great dad, a fabulous dad for my children and a brother who is wonderful to my nephews.  I could not be more grateful for the three of them!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Crazy kids...

This is going to be pretty random!
We've been crazy busy this past week!  With Landry having swimming lessons and school, it's been kinda hectic!  He finished up swimming lessons yesterday and absolutely loved it!  He's for sure a kid that loves water!  He's also really enjoying school!  Leaving him in the morning is hard but he has so much fun!

I know i'm biased, but I think he is such a stud!!
And yes, majority of the time he rides with his feet on his dvd player.
I guess he wanted to go to school!  It wasn't even a school day, but he found his backpack and wanted it on and wore it around the house for hours!
Big Daddy's been on vaca from the fire house since last Tuesday!  He doesn't have to go back til Sunday!  So he got to enjoy the weekend with us!
First off, let me explain.  Some nights after we put Landry down to bed, he immediately falls asleep.  Other nights (such as last night) he will play in his room (or sing, or talk!) for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half.

Saturday morning this is what we woke up to.....
That's right, he destroyed his pillow.  And no, Harli actually had nothing to do with it!

The other night while we were eating dinner, I had this visor on the table.  Landry reached over and grabbed it and put it on his head!  Needless to say, this is how he finished his dinner!
Notice the pizza sauce by his eye and the ranch dressing coated hair?
Harli and Landry have quickly become best buds.  If Harli doesn't climb in bed with him in the mornings, he gets really upset.  And likewise, when we drop Landry off somewhere, Harli gets sad!

This is where Harli used to stay in the car.
Then she decided she needed to be closer to her buddy, so she started riding in his lap.
Then it moved to cuddling with him.
Now....  One day after I got back to my car after taking Landry into school, I found her like this.
Anytime we get out of the car and she doesn't, she immediately sits in Landry's seat!  Yesterday morning, I really thought she was gonna fight me to put Landry in there!!
Big Daddy took Landry to school today and sent me this picture when he got back in the car.  We're not real for sure what she's doing...

And last but not least.
The boys came over yesterday afternoon to play in the sprinklers with Landry and Harli discovered a new toy!
Sorry the boys aren't on video, they were all naked and I don't think that's really appropriate PG rating for this blog!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Swim Lessons & Big Boy School!

It's official.  Landry is no longer my baby.  After the past few days, in my eyes, he officially became a big boy.

Monday, he started swimming lessons.  He loves the water and honestly has no fear, so we though it might be good for him.  At his age, they offer Parent & Me classes, so Big Daddy got in with him while I watched.  He had a BLAST!  I took these pics with no flash or anything, so they are not good at all, but I think they show his excitement!
Then... yesterday Landry started Big Boy School.  It's actually Mother's Day Out, but we've been hyping it up as school to him!  We thought about starting it in the fall, but with Ansley coming, we figured it would be good for him to be around smaller kids before she got here, not to mention it would give mom a break and give her a chance to do what she needs to!

Harli of course woke him up yesterday and then they had to share his breakfast of blueberry pancakes!
No one was available to go with me, so I had to take pictures just at the house.

A smile full of pancakes!
Obviously this is his serious pose!
Silly Boy
I LOVE this one!  He is so big!
I only cried twice yesterday morning, so I consider that a success.  Landry didn't notice when I left, he was too busy playing with balls and eating crackers!
When I picked him up yesterday afternoon, he really didn't show any interest in me until a little girl pulled on my dress and was saying "mama, mama"  and Landry ran up to me kinda like "um, excuse me, that would be my mom."   They said he took a nap and ate the kid next to him's vegetables.  Which is odd, since the kid won't eat veggies for any of us.

I think he's going to have a great time and really enjoy playing with the other kids this summer!  Hopefully there won't be any biting, hitting, pinching....

Trissa and the boys met us at the house so they could play in the sprinklers!
Landry usually isn't one to enjoy that, but after watching his big cousins, he jumped right in and turned into a crazy man!
Trissa helped me organize Landry's things the other day, and Trissa caught them playing in the toy closet!  They were being so quiet, we were kinda worried!
Overall, it has been a busy week so far!  Hopefully Landry continues to enjoy his new activities!  We are so proud of our big boy!

On a side note.  I have a vent that I need to get off my chest.
If you have a problem with the age difference between our children, I would appreciate it if you would keep it to yourself.
Let me tell you this, YES surprises DO happen.  Even with precautions to prevent it, they do indeed happen.
It's called life.

Also, I think this is the best surprise that God could grant us and we couldn't be more thrilled!

I do not think it is anyone's business how close or how far apart a couple chooses to have their children.  That is a personal decision and if you have a problem with it, then I think you should tell someone who cares, because it isn't me.
